15 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

JASON ISBELL – “FOXES IN THE SNOW”

Gibbons, and others, and new single “Yes, I Will” features ’90s-era pop-country star Shania Twain. Also involved on this track: Steve Lukather of Toto, Ray Parker Jr. (Ghostbusters theme), and veteran bassist Nathan East.

ANISH KUMAR & HAGOP TCHAPARIAN – “KINO”

Anish Kumar and Hagop Tchaparian have teamed for this banger in two parts. “It started as a chance text exchange via a mutual acquaintance and we first met properly in a packed Brixton rave,” says Hagop. “This first conversation couldn’t have been in a better context and amid the bass and bodies, it was clear that Anish was different.”

MEAGRE MARTIN – ‘UP TO SNUFF’

Berlin-based group Meagre Martin are back with this new five-song EP. Up to Snuff? Most definitely.

SELF ESTEEM – “69”

“I always wanted to write a song that lists sex positions and rates them,” Self Esteem, aka Rebecca Lucy Taylor, says of the latest single off her new album A Complicated Woman. “A lot of my music is saying the things I struggle to say in real life. I like the idea of clearly communicating your needs in one quick, three-minute house song. It is also political – women still are expected to cater to others sexually; I can’t hear another discussion about ‘faking it’, it upsets me too much! There’s enough inequality in the male/ female dynamic as it is. Our bodies go through so much more pain and suffering, please god let us get the pleasure where we can!”

MERMAID CHUNKY – “CHAPERONE (PEACH REMIX)”

“‘chaperone’ is a love, nay lust, song, so on this Valentine’s Day we put out a newly made up version of the track from London DJ and producer Peach of NTS, Fabric, and world-circling DJ fame,” say UK group Mermaid Chunky of this new remix to one of the highlights from their DFA debut. “Her version is a true corker, ratcheting up and up and up until it just goes in the back half. Impossible to resist.”

TREATY OAK REVIVAL – “BAD STATE OF MIND”

Odessa, Texas country rock band Treaty Oak Revival have shared a new song powered by a Midwest emo riff and an anthemic chorus. The band calls it “our gift to those who might be having a bad time on Valentine’s Day.”

Blues rocker Samantha Fish has announced a new album, Paper Doll, due April 25 via Rounder Records. Here’s the sweet Southern sounds of lead single “Sweet Southern Sounds.”
