So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
GET WRONG (MARTHA, THE SPOOK SCHOOL) – “TOO LATE TO HIDE”
Get Wrong is the duo of Martha’s Naomi Griffin and The Spook School’s Adam Todd, and their self-titled debut EP comes out December 1 via Father/Daughter in the US and Alcopop! in the UK. It was produced by Field Music’s Peter Brewis, and new single “Too Late to Hide” puts a twee twist on glossy synthpop.

TORRES – “I GOT THE FEAR”
“A collective dread has been mounting,” Mackenzie Scott says of her new single as Torres, “I got the fear.” “Everyone I know is having a brawl with the universe, with themselves…wars, climate catastrophe, a pandemic, the worldwide regression on human rights, the political hellscape — it affects everybody, and I know we’re all feeling it in waves of varying degree all the time. I think it’s really important that we find a way to get our hopes back up. I’m here to try to help light the way if I can. Most days I really believe humanity will find a way. But there’s a nagging anxiety that maybe that won’t happen. One has to wonder if it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that a species that believes it’s doomed will doom itself.” It’s from her new album What an enormous room.

LARRY JUNE & CARDO – “WITHOUT YOU (BLXST INTERLUDE)”
As Larry June and Cardo gear up for their new project The Night Shift, they’ve shared “Without You,” a woozy R&B song led by guest singer Blxst.

SHARON VAN ETTEN – “CLOSE TO YOU”
Sharon Van Etten co-wrote “Close To You” with Courtney Barnett for the soundtrack to season one of The Buccaneers on Apple TV+, and it was produced by Stella Mozgawa (who also played drums on the tack) and Zach Dawes. It’s the second song to be released from the soundtrack, following Miya Folick’s recent single “What We Wanna.”

BE SAFE (ex-PERFECT FUTURE) – “IN A HOUSE”
Be Safe is a new band led by Matt Wojcik of the now-defunct Perfect Future, and their debut album is coming in early 2024 via Count Your Lucky Stars (details TBA). Lead single “In A House” is rooted in the same kind of yearning, quietly expansive mid/late ’90s emo that CYLS became most associated with in its early days. The song’s official release is coming soon but it premiered today via The Alternative.

KEVIN ABSTRACT – “MADONNA”
Kevin Abstract’s new album Blanket, which he says is inspired by Sunny Day Real Estate, Nirvana, and Modest Mouse, is out this Friday (11/3), and ahead of its release he’s shared a final advance single, “Madonna.”

CLOSET WITCH – “WE MET ON THE PARK BOUNDARY TRAIL”
Iowa screamo/powerviolence/grind band Closet Witch’s new LP Chiaroscuro comes out Friday and here’s one more relentlessly chaotic single.

PUSSY RIOT – “SWAN LAKE”
Masha Alyokhina, Olga Borisova, Diana Burkot, and Lucy Shtein collaborated with Sigur Rós’ Kjartan Sveinsson (who did the orchestral arrangement) and Russian artist Alisa Gorshenina (who directed the video) on anti-war track “Swan Lake,” which comes ahead of their Riot Days tour.

LIGHT BEAMS – “FRIENDLY”
Light Beams (members of Antelope, Puff Pieces, Alarms & Controls, and more) will release their new album Wild Life this Friday (11/3) via Dischord, and here’s the new ESG-inspired single “Friendly.”

CAREER WOMAN – “NO ALIBI”
About her new single as Career Woman, “No Alibi,” Melody Caudill says, “I wrote it during a time of major transition in my life, and find myself coming back to it time and time again because it’s a feeling that doesn’t really go away. Alex Dezen helped my vision for the song musically come to life and I am so grateful for his support!” It follows the band’s September EP Grapevine.

OZONE – SHUTTING YOU DOWN EP
Fort Worth band Ozone channel the influence of ’80s NYHC on this truly brutal new EP.

JAMES ELKINGTON – “ME NEITHER”
James Elkington will release Me Neither on December 8 via No Quarter. The double LP is his spin on groovy 1970s “library music” that composers like Alan Hawkshaw recorded that were used in TV shows and commercials. You can listen to the windswept title track now.

US GIRLS – LIVES
U.S. Girls have surprise-released a live album, titled Lives, that is taken from performances across the last five years, featuring a few (wildly) different iterations of the band.

CLOUD NOTHINGS – “FINAL SUMMER”
Cloud Nothings have signed to Pure Noise, and their first single for the label is “Final Summer.” Read more about it here.
