HARRISON GORDON – “LIKE ME LESS”

Normal, IL emo band Harrison Gordon release their second album, BLISS, in September, and they’ve given us another preview with the spiky “Like Me Less.” They say it’s “about having issues with yourself, and projecting those problems on to other people. ‘Whatever black mold breeding and spreading over your soul needs to stay dormant and unaddressed if you hope to keep anyone around.’ It was written about how it felt to go through a depressive episode while living with another person who was operating completely fine, ‘No one knows me, I barely know me, and that’s the way it oughta be.'”

This is what hit songs are written about, right?”

DENT MAY – “SECOND WIND”

Says Dent: “I wrote ‘Second Wind’ very quickly one late afternoon when I was feeling low. My friend invited me to do something fun, but I wasn’t up for it. The song is quite literally a live narration of me catching a second wind and deciding to go out and give it a try. We recorded the entire album live to tape with the band playing unrehearsed, and this arrangement is the epitome of my desire to break of out of the grid and let the tempo ebb and flow with the emotions of the song.” New album The Big One is out August 14.
