So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
U.S. GIRLS – “YOU’VE GOT EVERYTHING – BUT A SMILE”
U.S. Girls composed the score to horror-comedy film Dead Lover which is in theaters today. It’s mainly instrumental compositions but includes a song or two, too. “You’ve Got Everything – But A Smile” was co-written with The Raconteurs’ Jack Lawrence and Meg Remy says, “It was an incomplete song Jack Lawrence had living on his computer that got unearthed, polished up and put to use.”

FAILURE – “A WAY DOWN”
Failure have given us another preview of their new album Location Lost with “A Way Down.” “Musically speaking, ‘A Way Down’ is an homage to two bands who actually got me to pick up the guitar and try to write my own music: The Cure and Siouxsie & The Banshees, specifically their early 80s periods with albums like Juju and Pornography,” Ken Andrews says. “I was captured by the angular guitar approach and the unapologetic dark atmospheres that dripped off those records. Lyrically, ‘A Way Down’ is another study in miscommunication and the resulting loneliness it often brings. No silver linings here.”

THE BLACK KEYS – “WHERE THERE’S SMOKE, THERE’S FIRE”
The Black Keys’ new covers album opens with this rendition of Willie Griffin’s “Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire.” Peaches! is out May 1.

MONTELL FISH & CLARA LA SAN – “LOVE YOU RIGHT”
“Since I found artists like Miguel, Corbin, and Majid Jordan back in high school I’ve always loved this mix between ambience and R&B,” Montell Fish says of his new single, which features Clara La San. “I wanted to create ‘Love You Right’ as another ode to what I see as this genre of Ambient R&B and felt Clara La San’s voice and melodic choices sounded angelic over my production and hook and just made me feel like I was 17 again.”

FLO – “LEAK IT”
“‘Leak It’ unlocks a core memory of being a young girl, listening to girl group music and feeling empowered!,” R&B trio FLO say of their new single. “The video is iconic! And we’re proud that it’s ours. This is the video we dreamt of having as teenagers. We’re cunty, we’re funny, we’re bold, we’re FLO. We hope everyone loves it as much as we do.”

THE LEAF LIBRARY – “AFTER THE RAIN, STRANGE SEEDS”
London quartet The Leaf Library have just released their fourth album which is full of droney, dreamy indie rock that will probably be of interest to fans of Yo La Tengo.

HORSEGIIRL – “AN APPLE A DAY”
horsegiirL has shared a second track from her “new era,” the maximalist “an apple a day,” which follows February’s “only the best.”

LIZZO – “DON’T MAKE ME LOVE U”
Lizzo follow her 2025 mixtape My Face Hurts from Smiling with “Don’t Make Me Love U,” which interpolates parts of Tina Turner’s “The Best” and Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

XIU XIU – “IN EVERY DREAM HOME A HEARTACHE” (ROXY MUSIC COVER)
Xiu Xiu have released a Deluxe Edition of their covers album Xiu Mutha Fuckin’ Xiu: Vol. 1 which features four more covers, including this Roxy Music classic.

DUENDITA – “SUPER SAD!”
duendita announced a new album, existential thottie, due out April 29 via 10k Global, and shared a new single, “super sad!.” “The whole project is about being jiggly, ridiculous, and honest—songs about breakups, crying in the club, emotional pain that never leaves, really hot and safe sex, birth control, fights in my hetero ass situationship, my time navigating the state mental health system… and ending with a promise that I will give healing my all,” they say about the album.

FLORENCE ROAD – “RABBITS CAN SWIM”
Florence Road’s new EP Spring Forward is out next week (3/27) via Warner, and they’ve shared a final advance single, “Rabbits Can Swim.” Rob Moose did the string arrangement, and they say, “It’s a song about love and wanting someone to tell you every single little thing, even something as random as the fact that rabbits can swim.”

DARKTHRONE – “PRE-HISTORIC METAL”

DEAD CAN DANCE – “OUR DAY WILL COME”
Goth icons Dead Can Dance are back with their first new music in five years, a single titled “Our Day Will Come.” Don’t get too too excited: If Lisa Gerrard is on this she’s not singing, but the sonorous baritone of Brendan Perry is front and center, backed by a typically cinematic, lush arrangement and sweeping melody.

FOO FIGHTERS – “CAUGHT IN THE ECHO”
Foo Fighters gave us another preview of their new album Your Favorite Toy, which once again has them in garage rock territory.
