So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
J. COLE – “PORT ANTONIO” (KENDRICK & DRAKE RESPONSE)
J. Cole bowed out of the Kendrick Lamar/Drake beef before it got really messy, and now, after taking some time to regroup, he’s responded to the whole thing with the pensive new track “Port Antonio.” He raps over the same piano sample that’s on Jay-Z’s “Dead Presidents II” (Lonnie Liston Smith’s “A Garden of Peace”) and a pitched-up sample of Cleo Sol’s “Know That You Are Loved” as he talks about his decision to back out of the feud and shuts down the rumors that he picked a side against Drake.

THE CHARLATANS – “DON’T LET IT STAND (AKA CAN’T GET OUT OF BED)” DEMO
Here’s an early demo of what would become one of The Charlatans’ biggest hits. This version, titled “Don’t Let it Stand,” was recorded by frontman Tim Burgess and late keyboardist Rob Collins and is one of the bonus track on the Up to Our Hips expanded 30th anniversary edition.

PA SALIEU – “EPIPHANY” / “CRASH”
Pa Salieu was released from incarceration only a month ago but is already back with this double-sided single. He says: “While I was in jail, I realised how fortunate I was to always have my thoughts for company. My mind was my escape, and I fell in love with the pen and paper and that’s when I had an epiphany—I have a voice, a platform, and something meaningful to say. Growing up in a Pan-Africanist family, I was raised with a strong sense of history, and I know the power of words. Reading Tupac’s, The Rose That Grew from Concrete inspired me, especially the way he expressed himself through poetry. I love philosophy, history, culture, and I love humanity. “Epiphany” and “Crash” are raw reflections of that, taken directly from my jail notes.”

OLIVIA O. – “REJECTION”
Olivia Osby of Lowertown is releasing her new album as Olivia O., No Bones, Sickly Sweet, on November 1 via Amateaur, and the latest single is the lo-fi folk track “Rejection,” which she says is for “all the people who like to cry and be sad.”

MOON DIAGRAMS (MOSES of DEERHUNTER) – “FIFTEEN SHOWS AT ONE TIME (THE OTHER TWO REMIX)”
Moon Diagrams, aka Deerhunter’s Moses Archuleta, got The Other Two (New Order’s Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris) to “Fifteen Shows at One Time” from this year’s Cemetery Classics. It was already very danceable but these Two give it more of a Giorgio Moroder feel.

GLOK / TIMOTHY CLERKIN – “NOTHING EVER” FT DU BLONDE
GLOCK, aka Ride’s Andy Bell, will release a new collaborative album with Amsterdam-based producer and DJ Timothy Clerkin on November 8. “Nothing Ever” features Beth Jeans Houghton, aka Du Blonde, who co-wrote the song.

SAYA GRAY – “SHELL ( OF A MAN )”
Saya Gray has announced her debut LP, SAYA, due out on February 21 via Dirty Hit, and she’s shared a new single from it, alt-pop track “Shell ( Of a Man ).”

Before you pigeonhole Trauma Ray’s upcoming album Chameleon as shoegaze, listen to the heavy alt-metal riffage of new single “Bardo.”

BRUISER WOLF & ZACK FOX – “MOUNTAIN LION”
Bruiser Wolf and Zack Fox put their heads together for the appealing indie-rap collab “Mountain Lion.”

NJ deathcore band Fit For An Autopsy deliver a new taste of The Nothing That Is.

FIONN REGAN – “FAREWELL”
Irish indie folk singer Fionn Regan’s new album O Avalanche comes out November 1 via Nettwerk Music Group, and here’s its lovely final single.

UK metallic post-hardcore band Hidden Mothers have shared another towering, shapeshifting taste of Erosion / Avulsion.
