So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
BRYAN ADAMS – “51ST STATE”
Today is Canada Day and Bryan Adams, one of the country’s national treasures, is celebrating with this lightly politically charged new song that pokes fun at the nation’s reputation by some as just being part of America if unofficially. “I wanted to write something about Canada because Canada is home,” says Adams. “There is more that binds us than divides us. This is a tribute to the pride and spirit of my fellow Canadians – the rest is just noise.”

JON HOPKINS & IMOGEN HEAP – “RECKONING”
Jon Hopkins and Imogen Heap have teamed up for their first collaborative track, “Reckoning.” “I’d been building this piece for something like a year and kept coming back to it, but it never quite felt interesting enough to me,” Hopkins says. “Then Immi and I were interviewed together on BBC 6 Music and found ourselves wondering, on air, how we’d never actually made a track together. Later that night I was back in the studio on this tune and realised her singing and writing was what it needed.” Heap adds, “I’d been writing almost like a diary, but also writing words that sounded nice with each other, things with a nice stanza. Jon sent me this track and I loved it. Something pretty devastating had happened that day and I was upstairs, unable to go downstairs and I had it on my headphones. I immediately felt so positive and grateful that I had this outlet, and that these words were magically feeling really nice with what Jon had done.”

TOKYO TEA ROOM – “ALL NIGHT”
UK group Tokyo Tea Room have announced new album Feel Forever which will be out September 18 via Nice Guys. “All Night” is the slinky, funky first single.

WESTSIDE COWBOY – “PIN UP BOYS”
Manchester band Westside Cowboy release their debut album, It Goes On, in August, and they’ve given us another preview with “Pin Up Boys,” which Reuben Haycocks said became “heavier and more aggro” each time the band played it live. “‘Pin Up Boys’ was written a year and a half ago using an acoustic guitar, a drum machine sample pad and some screwdrivers as drumsticks,” they say. “It is by far the longest serving song on the album and the one that we have played the most live, which was a blessing and a curse when we came to record. After realising this song was set in its ways, we thought the recording should be a somewhat faithful version of the live performance. We hope you get something out of it.”

LIIM – “IS LOVING REALLY BAD?”
Harlem-born artist Liim is building up to announcing the follow-up to his 2025 debut album Liim Lasalle Loves You, releasing “R.I.P. Peace” in May and the melodic, laid back “Is Loving Really Bad” today.

GURRIERS – “PARTY LINES”
Fans of conspiracy theories and movies like They Live? You like the new video from Irish band Gurriers. The song is pretty fun too. New album Nobody’s Coming to Save You is out September 25.

PETER GABRIEL – “I BELONG TO THE SKY”
Peter Gabriel releases new songs every month with the full moon and this week for the strawberry moon we got “I Belong to the Sky.” He says, “For many years now I let the ends run on every song because what often happens, which I found so frustrating, is you get to the end of a song and the band have just really locked in the groove, relaxed and it then all of a sudden, it stops… and the best feeling for a musician is when you’re in the pocket, in the groove, and it’s all happening around you. Consequently, I now let these endings loose and wonderful things happen. One of the things I love about this track is that these amazing musicians let themselves loose and really take off – with Manu (Katché) driving. It’s just great.”

THE FLESHTONES – “FLOAT YOUR SHOWBOAT”
NYC’s fabulous Fleshtones are celebrating 50 years of Super Rock with this new single. “Keith (Streng) sent me a track he recorded in Stockholm,” says frontman Peter Zaremba. “He said it could use words but he already had a snappy chorus about ‘floating your showboat, baby.’ His music just so happened that it fit a lyrical idea that was knocking around in my head. A little trip to the body shop, and voila, kinda a classic Fleshtones-style big-beat rocker. It’s about ‘wet-blankets’ in situations where people should be enjoying life. Basically a positive message behind the snarky tone. Have some fun. And Goa was great.”

THE DURUTTI COLUMN – “SCAMMER”
Vini Reilly is set to release his first Durutti Column album in 16 years and here’s a second track from it. “Scammer” is floating in space and you should let it pull you along.

TYCHO & SEA LEMON – “ANOTHERWAVE”
“I was driving late one night on a road trip through the California Central Valley when I first heard Sea Lemon’s music,” says Tycho’s Scott Hansen of this collaboration. “Eraser came on and immediately clicked; I think I listened to Close Up about four times in a row. I started imagining Natalie’s vocals on this new song I had been working on; the lush textures felt like a perfect match for the sound. So at the next stop, I reached out and sent some demos. I was really happy when she picked the particular song I had in mind; that’s usually a good sign. We started bouncing ideas back and forth, and pretty soon thereafter, Natalie tracked the vocals at her place. The track was originally a sparse, synth-driven piece, but once I got the vocals in place, I realized something was missing from the overall composition. So Zac came over and tracked some guitars, and it all came into focus quickly. This was one of those songs where I never really had to fight anything; it all just flowed, and those are the most fulfilling projects to work on. It was really an honor to work with such a talented artist as Natalie, and I’m very proud of what we created together.”

California band Allah-Lahs will release their sixth album, Sirenas, on August 28 via Mexican Summer. This one is all instrumental and “Pt Conception” is pretty groovy.

London trio Vanishing Twin announced their fifth album today and offered up two songs to hear now.
