13 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK – “STOP TALKING”

BEAR MCCREARY – “THE LAST BALLAD OF DAMROD” FT. MESHUGGAH’S JENS KIDMAN

“When I first glimpsed Damrod, the murderous troll in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season Two, I knew immediately I had to call Jens Kidman,” composer Bear McCreary says. “The aggressive frontman of Meshuggah, Jens put a searing brand on ‘The Last Ballad of Damrod’ with his blistering vocal performance. I am exhilarated to team up with Roadrunner Records, home to some of my favorite bands of all time like Gojira and Slipknot, to bring our song to the world. My collaboration with Jens, alongside virtuoso drummer Gene Hoglan, on ‘The Last Ballad of Damrod,’ offers an introduction to my exploration of the darker recesses of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium and sets the stage for the rest of the sweeping score to come.”

HEEMS – “RAKHI” (ft. PAVVAN & AJJI)

Heems has shared the third single from his second album of 2024, VEENA LP, and it finds Heems and longtime collaborators / fellow Queens natives Pavvan and Ajji taking on a sinister beat from Evergreen Univerze aka Karan Dhillon.

MERCURY REV – “A BIRD OF NO ADDRESS”

CURSIVE – “IMPOSTURING”

Cursive have shared another single off their upcoming 10th album (and first for Run For Cover), Devourer, and it comes with a video directed by Tim Kasher himself. Tim says, “The overall conceit of ‘Imposturing’ is, ‘make it up as you go along,’ so I concocted a story of a monster seemingly made up from the insecurities of this main singer guy (me). Once fully formed, the monster goes on a rampage.”

I was searching for resilience and hope and seeking to be fortified by difficulty. To BE tender is to be soft and subtle but to MAKE something tender you got to beat it up.
