So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
CITIZEN – “GOOD FORTUNE”
Citizen’s anticipated new album Halcyon Blues comes out this week, and ahead of the release, you get to hear its charged-up opening track.

WHY? – “IN SPIRIT”
WHY? have announced their ninth album, Oh Golly / Yes Lord, due October 30 via Waterlines. On lead single “In Spirit,” the genre-fluid band lean into rickety, lightly-psychedelic indie rock.

NEW RADICALS – “ONE NIGHT ONLY (BREAK LOOSE BREAK FREE!)”
New Radicals have released their first new song since releasing their first and only album-–the one with “You Get What You Give”–28 years ago. It’s for the movie One Night Only and it’s called “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!).”

LAST DAYS OF HEAVEN – “BLUSHING 1”
Dallas’ shoegazy alt-rockers Last Days of Heaven have released the new track “Blushing 1” via New Morality Zine.

CAROLINA OLIVEROS – “OYE CAMINA !”
Combo Chimbita vocalist Carolina Oliveros announced her solo debut, Ya Rompimos el Silencio, due out November 6 via Chulo Records. About new single “Oye Camina,” she says, “‘Oye Camina’ is a reminder that life is constantly in motion and that our challenge is to live with presence, gratitude, and courage before it slips away.”

CALIFORNIA COUSINS – PROMO 26
Rochester, NY emo/post-hardcore band California Cousins (aka calicuzns) have dropped a three-song promo and it’s very promising stuff. Hopefully this means we’ll learn more about a new LP sooner than later.

LUCY DACUS – “CLAY PIGEONS” & JOHN MORELAND/LYDIA LOVELESS – “FADED LOVES AND MEMORIES” (BLAZE FOLEY COVERS)
Two more tracks are out from the tribute album to the late outlaw country cult hero Blaze Foley, which arrives in full this Friday. Listen to Lucy Dacus’ rendition of “Clay Pigeons” and John Moreland’s rendition of “Faded Loves and Memories” with backing vocals from Lydia Loveless.

JAMES ELLIS FORD – “THE EVER AFTER”
“It might seem a little odd to be trying to write dance music from a hospital bed,” says James Ellis Ford of Simian Mobile Disco and producing your favorite band’s latest album, “but I was trying to lift my mood and focus on the positive things in my life. In that moment my mind went to my little 8-year-old boy Frank and the power he has to bring joy into the world and point the way to a better future.” New album Lost In Another World will be out August 14.

NO BRA – “18TH FLOOR”
Musician, satirist and provocateur Susanne Oberbeck is back with a new No Bra single. She directed the video, too.

BONOBO FT JOY CROOKES – “ALWAYS ON YOUR SIDE”
Here’s another single from Bonobo’s guest-filled Distance and Static that’s out September 11. This one’s with Mercury Prize-nominated singer Joy Crookes.

NOW IT’S OVERHEAD – “ELEVEN-SEVEN-THIRTY-FIVE”
Now It’s Overhead are back with their first new music in 20 years. “eleven-seven-thirty-five” is from their new EP, which is out in September via Saddle Creek, and you can read more about it here.
