12 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

ML BUCH – “UNTITLED 2016 2026”

All good things come to those who wait and with that in mind here’s a new ML Buch track from 2016 that he finally got around to finishing. Little bit of a Chariots of Fire thing going on here.

SCREAMING FIST – SANTA PLAGA

Ceremony bassist Jasmine Watson fronts Oakland hardcore band Screaming Fist, who released a new 7″, Santa Plaga, via Convulse today.

A.A. WILLIAMS – “HOLD IT TOGETHER”

Gothy singer-songwriter A.A. Williams is releasing a new album, Solstice, on June 5 via RPM, and the new single is the moody, atmospheric “Hold It Together.” “Silence exists where you long for answers, a bleak fragility that you daren’t disturb,” she says. “Where beauty stood only the faintest glow remains, afraid of smothering it you shrink into a mould of your own making. Your edges dulled, your features disappearing, you put on that brave face not knowing whether you do it to protect others or yourself. You smile, you carry on, feeling everything, showing nothing.”

NOAH KAHAN – “PORCH LIGHT”

Noah Kahan has given us another Americana-tinged taste of his new album The Great Divide, which he wrote and produced with Aaron Dessner; his regular collaborator Gabe Simon also contributed production.

TIGA – “FRICTION”

Tiga’s new album HOTLIFE is out April 17 and here’s another banger from it. He says: “Time for some non-fiction. The human condition: that’s pure friction. It costs a million dollars just to stay alive. Play it cool, feel the vibe.”

HOLLY HUMBERSTONE – “CRUEL WORLD”

Holly Humberstone’s sophomore album Cruel World is out on April 10 via Interscope, and she’s shared the title track. “‘Cruel World’ comes from the euphoria and pain of long-distance,” she says. “Your perception of the world around you can be completely distorted without that one person in it. There’s no fun in going out solo when the only place you want to be is wherever they are. Loving someone that much is always going to hurt a little. This is the dichotomy of pain and pleasure. Love is so painful at its core and this is the throughline of my record. This is my favourite song I’ve ever written.”

NATHANIEL RATELIFF – “TOMMY’S SONG” & “MY HOMETOWN” (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN COVER)

Nathaniel Rateliff has unveiled two new tracks off the soundtrack of Taylor McFadden’s new film Lovers, a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “My Hometown,” and an original, “Tommy’s Song.”

LYKKE LI – “KNIFE IN THE HEART”

Lykke Li’s new album, The Afterparty, is out in May, and she’s given us another preview with “Knife in the Heart.” “This is my brutalist nursery rhyme anthem — the emo girl in me, fully unleashed,” she says. “I had my son and his friend sing the choruses because the juxtaposition of their voices against the EBow just created such a powerful sonic landscape, somewhere I’ve never really been before. A world totally collapsing in front of us and all we really have left is our humanity. My dream is to hear a whole football stadium chanting: ‘This Life This Life is a Knife in the Heart.’ To me, a pretty accurate description of what it feels like to be alive right now.”

PORTUGAL. THE MAN – “GOLDEN” (HUNTRIX COVER)

Portugal. The Man covered Huntrix’s K-Pop Demon Hunter hit “Golden,” and a portion of proceeds will go to Cure DHDDS, a rare disease that Frances, the daughter of the band’s John Baldwin Gourley and Zoe Manville, is afflicted with. “Golden is about overcoming hardship, embracing who you truly are, and stepping into your destiny,” Zoe says. “Its message celebrates breaking through obstacles, honoring authenticity, and finding strength in unity—values we believe deeply resonate with the rare disease community. Being a favorite of Frances’ since it came out, it holds such special meaning for us. Thank you for supporting this release & @franceschangedmylife . You know together, we’re glowing.”

SPIRIT ADRIFT – “ETERNAL CELESTIAL ENERGY”

Spirit Adrift have released their first new music since their 2023 album Ghost at the Gallows. They say it’s a standalone single but that “the sixth and final Spirit Adrift album is approaching sooner than you realize.”

THE DOLLYROTS – “ATTENTION SPAN”

As they begin their “Spring Break from Reality” tour, The Dollyrots have shared a new single, “Attention Span.” “It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the intensity and rate of information thrown our way every day in this modern life,” bassist and vocalist Kelly Ogden says. “Important connections with each other and the earth seem to get lost in the shuffle. ‘Attention Span’ is a happy-sounding song about the confusion we feel right now.”
