So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JORJA SMITH – “HIGH”
Jorja Smith has released her first new single since last year’s falling or flying, and it finds the UK R&B singer crooning over a clattering dance beat.

MIRANDA LAMBERT – “ALIMONY”
Miranda Lambert has announced a new album, Postcards From Texas, due September 13 via Republic, and along with the announcement comes the twangy rocker “Alimony.”

GLASSER – “OM”
Glasser has announced the deluxe edition of last year’s great crux, which features seven previously unreleased tracks and is due out on September 27 via One Little Independent Records. The first of those is “Om,” which she says is “a track that I wrote when I was bursting with new songs after the death of my friend Noah.”

DOFLAME – “CAN’T STAND NO ONE”
Toronto’s DoFlame (aka Mateo Naranjo) has signed to Blue Grape Music (Code Orange, Gel, Spiritual Camp), and his first single for the label “Can’t Stand No One” sounds like Turnstile-y hardcore by way of rap rock.

HEMLOCK ERNST – “RAISED IN THE SOUTH” FT. ICKY REELS
Future Island’s Samuel T. Herring has announced a new album from his Hemlock Ernst side project. Studying Absence features Icky Reels, and is due out on October 16 via Beans’ Tygr Rawwk Rcrds. “Studying Absence is about my lost histories, my Southern South Pacific ancestry, my first relationships, physical abuse, drug addiction and the ghosts of the south — the roadkill on a long winter night,” Herring says. “I was all these things but not one of them. The stories I don’t know, I can only imagine, but the same can be said for the stories that I know too well. The stories that I lived and made me who I am are now so far away that remembering them is like a dream. Did it happen? But I feel now like I felt then, like I’ve always felt looking into a mirror. This is potential and what was lost. This is technology and how it failed. This is imperialism and who it gained. A religion, an organized crime. All the people scattered.” The first single is “Raised In The South.”

PRIM – GOLDEN TOOTH” & “DON’T COUNT ON ME”
Prim are an alt-rock band whose members hail from the hardcore scene (guitarist/vocalist Kevin Flores also plays in Worn and Apex Predator, and he and other members were in various Houston hardcore bands before that), and their debut album Move Too Slow comes out September 6 via Sunday Drive Records. You can get a taste from the two songs that are out now.

DVTR – “LES OLYMPIQUES”
Just in time for the festivities in Paris comes this spoty single from this Montreal synth-punk duo.

ANNA MCCLELLAN – “HOLD YOU CLOSE”
Anna McClellan has shared the spare, minimal song, “Hold You Close.” “I just wanted to write a simple song,” she says. “I’m very lucky to have deep friendships that ebb and flow over the years. ‘Hold You Close’ is an homage to all my loved ones, near, far, known, unknown.”

THURSTON MOORE – “NEW IN TOWN”
Thurston Moore celebrated his 66th birthday today by giving us all a present.

BRIA SALMENA – “BENDING OVER BACKWARDS”
Canadian artist Bria Salmena used lead FRIGS and play in Orville Peck’s band and has now released her debut single under her full name for Sub Pop.

KARATE – “DEFENDANTS” & “SILENCE, SOUND”
Jazzy post-hardcore/post-rock/emo/indie vets Karate have announced their first album in 20 years, Make It Fit, and two songs are out now. Read more here.
