So many artists, so many songs, so little time. TOM PETTY – “WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH LOUISE”
For what would’ve been Tom Petty’s 73rd birthday on Friday, Amazon released this previously unheard Wildflowers session song. (They also just released new documentary Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making Of Wildflowers.) You have to be a Prime member to listen to the whole thing:

LETTERS TO CLEO – “BAD MAN” & “IT’S SUNNY OUTSIDE”
Letters to Cleo are gearing up for their short East Coast tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their album Aurora Gory Alice and to let us know it’s not all about “remember when,” they’ve shared the two brand new songs from their tour-only 7″ single.

HEALTH – “ASHAMED”
HEALTH’s fifth album RAT WARS is out on December (pre-order our exclusive coke bottle clear vinyl variant), and the third single is “ASHAMED,” which Jake Duzsik told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 is “a highly personal song that just started as a demo in my house and I wasn’t really thinking about it very much and it was done very quickly…I think that this song is pretty explicit and it’s not shrouded in metaphors and similes and poetic prose. I think that when I wrote it, it was almost kind of stream of consciousness… I had recently become a father and was trying to deal with fatherhood and keeping a partnership together and then lockdown and all these different things. I think it was like Robert Smith, I read a quote of his where he was asked why he never had kids and it was because he was not consulted as to whether or not he wanted to be born and if he’d been given the choice, he would’ve preferred to have not been. I thought that that was incredible. Yeah, it’s about the most gothy thing you could say.”

DAZY – “FORCED PERSPECTIVE”
Dazy’s ’90s alt-rock revival is as catchy and nostalgia-inducing as ever on new single “Forced Perspective.”

Vastum have shared eight minutes of evil, adventurous, blackened death metal from their upcoming LP Inward To Gethsemane.

LOLA BROOKE – “PIT STOP” (ft. FRENCH MONTANA)
Brooklyn rapper Lola Brooke has announced a new project, Dennis Daughter, due November 10 via Arista, and new single “Pit Stop” injects some Southern-style bounce into Lola’s New York grit.

Detroit rapper 42 Dugg returns with an effortless banger.

TREVOR HORN FT MARC ALMOND – “LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD” (PAT BENATAR COVER)
’80s megaproducer and Buggles/Art of Noise co-founder Trevor Horn’s new album features some of his favorite songs (a few of which he produced), reimagined with help of some big-name vocalist. Here’s Pat Benatar’s classic MTV-era hit “Love is a Battlefield” turned into a torchy ballad with lead vocals by Soft Cell’s Marc Almond.
