So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MIDLAKE – “THE CALLING”
“I really liked where we landed with ‘The Calling,'” says singer/guitarist Eric Pulido of the driving new single from Midlake’s upcoming album A Bridge to Far. “A driving vibe that opens up nicely with the horn section Jesse and Sam devised so perfectly. Lyrically, the song has to do with my own struggle with applying myself towards a given effort; denying or embracing that which we were made to do.”

OKLOU & FKA TWIGS – “VISCUS”
Oklou announced a deluxe version of her debut LP, this year’s Choke Enough, due out October 30 via True Panther. It includes four previously unheard tracks, and she’s shared one of them, sparkling art-pop track “viscus,” which features FKA twigs.

OURI – “PARIS” (FT. OLI XL)
Ouri’s new album Daisy Cutter arrives later this month, and the latest single is “Paris,” featuring Swedish artist Oli XL. “‘Paris’ is an ode to my younger self growing up in this city,” Ouri says. “I was both trying to fit in and also trying on a bolder lifestyle, as I realized that the classical cellist life was not the right suit for me. Being 14 going to sleep at sunrise in one of the most beautiful cities is forever printed on my retina. Oli XL joined on this track and it became the ultimate time travelling song for me / my favourite on the album.”

SPANISH LOVE SONGS – “COCAINE AND LEXAPRO” (ft. KEVIN DEVINE) & “BERLIN” (ft. TIGERS JAW)
Emo-heartland rockers Spanish Love Songs have announced a new EP, A Brief Intermission in the Flattening of Time, due out November 21 via Pure Noise. It features a different guest on each song, including Kevin Devine on “Cocaine and Lexapro” and Tigers Jaw on “Berlin,” both of which are out now. The Wonder Years and illuminati hotties will appear on the other two songs.

THOU – “SUCK” (NINE INCH NAILS COVER)
Abrasive sludge metallers Thou are no strangers to covering ’90s alt-rock songs, and today they offered up a rendition of Nine Inch Nails’ “Suck.” It’ll appear on Magnetic Eye Records’ upcoming Nine Inch Nails tribute album, which comes out on November 28.

BELL WTICH & AERIAL RUIN – “WAVES BECAME THE SKY”
Following a recent teaser, Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin have detailed their upcoming album Stygian Bough Vol. II (due November 14 via Profound Lore) and they shared its first proper single, a 12-minute melodic doom epic called “Waves Became the Sky.”
