So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
WENDY EISENBERG – “I DON’T MISS YOU”
Math rock guitarist Wendy Eisenberg and their band Editrix both just signed to Joyful Noise, and Wendy’s first solo single for the label is the twitchy, melodic, casually-genre-defying “I Don’t Miss You.” Wendy also has a residency at The Stone in NYC coming up this month, and other dates (including several other NYC shows) after that. KING HANNAH – “LEFTOVERS”
“‘Leftovers’ is a very personal track about the future and the past, and the importance of tradition and setting certain standards, like the dedicated placement of the Christmas tree, and with the repetition of the phrase ‘I know’ we wanted to give the track a sense of both personal vulnerability and confidence,” says King Hannah’s Hannah Merrick of this literal “leftover” from last year’s Big Swimmer. “The repetition of the line ‘because I eat leftovers until there is nothing left over’ serves as a metaphor for wanting more and never settling, but also reflects a very real and simple idea of the leftovers on a plate, or lack of. The title ‘Leftovers’ also has a second meaning, as it was originally recorded for our album Big Swimmer but we were never completely happy with the lyrics, and so this ‘leftover’ track was rewritten in the months after Big Swimmer was released. Instrumentally and sonically we wanted the track to have a wildness to it, and to slowly build and simmer before imploding.”

DANA GAVANSKI – “HANG IN FOR US BOTH”
Art pop musician Dana Gavanski has shared another lovely taste of her upcoming piano-based EP Again Again.

FIME – “BETTER HALF OF A DOLLAR”
Fime first came together as Jay Sm’s backing band, but in 2022 they released their own debut album Sweeter Memory (produced by Jay Som), and now they released a new single called “Better Half of a Dollar,” an anthemic post-hardcore song that fans of Drug Church and Fucked Up should check out.

BRANDON – “RIGHT BACK”
Having signed to Secretly Canadian last year, singer/songwriter Brandon has announced his debut LP, Before You Go, due out on May 9. He’s also shared a new single, “Right Back.” about which he says, “It explores the complexity of addictive love, and how love can be so blinding. Likening someone to cyanide, a poison, BUT still throwing yourself at them, thinking it’ll work out. It’s an intense, internal struggle. And no matter how hard you try not to, you keep running right back to them.”

STATICLONE (BLACKLISTED) – “RED EYE”
Blacklisted offshoot Staticlone offer up another crusty, D-beating taste of their upcoming debut LP for Relapse.

HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF – “PYRAMID SCHEME”
Hurray for the Riff Raff followed their fantastic 2024 album The Past Is Still Alive with a new single, which you can read about here.

ROBBER ROBBER – “BACKUP PLAN (THIS IS LORELEI VERSION)”
This is Lorelei (Nate Amos, who is also in Water From Your Eyes) has taken Robber Robber’s striking “Backup Plan” and has givens it a radical remix, adding a lot of wild guitar shredding and ethereal harmonies to the equation. It’s from Robber Robber’s upcoming remix EP.

JAMES KRIVCHENIA – “PROBABLY WIZARDS” FT. SAM WILKES
Big Thief drummer and producer James Krivchenia announced a new solo album and shared the first single, an experimental instrumental track.

LAEL NEALE – “TELL ME HOW TO BE HERE”
Lael Neale has announced a new album, Altogether Stranger, which will be out May 2 via Sub Pop. This is the third album she’s made with producer Guy Blakeslee. “I love doing things the wrong way,” she says of her creative process, but the first single sounds just right.
