So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. EVAN GREER & RYAN CASSAT – “PROTECT TRANS KIDS (WTFIWWY)”
Today is Trans Day of Visibility, and Evan Greer and Ryan Cassat have marked the occasion with a new fired-up protest song for trans rights.

BRIGHT EYES & CURSIVE – “RECLUSE I DON’T HAVE TO LOVE”
Cursive are about to join Bright Eyes on tour, and ahead of those dates they’ve shared a mashup of “Lover I Don’t Have to Love” and “The Recluse.” All profits will benefit Bright Eyes’ new LGBTQ equality nonprofit the Poison Oak Project.

NIGHT MOVES – “HOLD ONTO TONIGHT”
Minneapolis soft-rockers Night Movies have announced new album Double Life which will be out July 25 via Domino. It’s their first album in six years and was co-produced by the band’s John Pelant and Jarvis Tavenier. Watch the video for anthemic first single “Hold Onto Tonight.”

THE OPHELIAS – “CICADA”
Vocalist and guitarist Spencer Peppet says “Cicada,” the final advance single off their new album Spring Grove, is “a song about how none of my exes or ex-friends use social media. It’s left to me to guess what they’re doing, what they look like, how they pass the time. I think sometimes it’s better not to know!”

THE PENNYS – “SAY SOMETHING”
The Pennys, aka Mike Ramos (Flowertown, Tony Jay, Cindy) and R.E. Seraphin (solo, Talkies, Glitz), have announced their self-titled debut which will be out later this spring. “Say Something” hits somewhere between mope and jangle.

MOMMA – “RODEO”
Ahead of the release of their new album Welcome to My Blue Sky on Friday, Momma shared one more preview, “Rodeo.” “This song is written from the perspective of two people we kind of left behind, romantically,” Allegra Weingarten and Etta Friedman say. “It’s our attempt at honoring their stories by tapping into the feeling of being replaced by someone else. We made the video with Richard Smith, who had the idea to put us on an ice rink and have someone skating around us, with a bull chasing her. It’s supposed to replicate the idea of being in the center of the ring of a rodeo, and feeling like someone is doing laps around you and you just can’t keep up.”

WAVVES – “GONER” (PROD TRAVIS BARKER)
Wavves have announced a new album, Spun, which will be out June 6 via Ghost Ramp. Full details have not been shared yet but with the announcement comes new single “Goner,” which was produced by blink-182‘s Travis Barker.

MIKI BERENYI TRIO (EX-LUSH) – “KINCH”
“The lyrics are inspired by love and loss,” says former Lush singer/guitarist Miki Berenyi about her new single, “and how those people never leave you, and how it makes you think about the nature of love.” MB3 release debut album ‘Tripla’ this week.

SUFJAN STEVENS – “MYSTERY OF LOVE (DEMO)”
Sufjan Stevens’ 2015 album Carrie & Lowell turns 10 today, and he’s announced a deluxe 10th anniversary reissue with 7 previously unreleased bonus tracks, including the original demo of Call Me By Your Name‘s “Mystery of Love.”

LE VOLUME COURBE – “TWO-LOVE” FT NOEL GALLAGHER
Le Volume Courbe, aka singer-songwriter and musician Charlotte Marionneau, has announced new album Planet Ping Pong that will be out May 9 via Stereolab’s Duophonic label. The album includes contributions from Noel Gallagher (Charlotte famously played the scissors in Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds), the late Terry Hall, Primal Scream‘s Andrew Innes, and more.
