So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
LAUREN MAYBERRY – “SORRY, ETC, ETC” (FT JOE TALBOT OF IDLES)
“If you know me, you know how much I love IDLES, so it really is an honor to have reinterpreted this song with Joe,” Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry says of his new version of her “Sorry, Etc, Etc” single. “We first connected during Covid when I did his Balley TV YouTube series, and have been quietly supportive of each other from the wings since. I messaged Joe last summer about working together and this is the song we decided on. We recorded his vocals in December at Brighton Electric when IDLES had a night off on tour. I re-recorded my (screamier) vocals at home before Christmas with Sam Stewart, and was produced by my friend Paul Gallagher.” Talbot adds, “An honour and a joy to work with Lauren finally. I love the album and I’m happy to be a part of it. Fuck the king, she’s the king x.”

HEART ATTACK MAN – “THE GALLOWS”
Nobody does gritty, catchy punk quite the way Heart Attack Man do, and that’s as true as ever on the latest taste of Joyride the Pale Horse.

FLORIDA MAN – “THE HOUSE”
Speaking of catchy punk, Florida Man fuse their usual post-hardcore vibes with some dancey funk-punk on the latest taste of Plastique.

DAUGHTER OF SWORDS – “STRANGE”
“‘Strange’ is a song about feeling alienated by modern life,” Alex Sauser-Monnig says of the latest single off Alex, their new album as Daughter of Swords. “Or about our inability to collectively self-regulate. The way it feels like humanity writ large overdoes everything in order to feel/not feel only to have a vague sense we’re maybe missing the point and all the while driving ourselves over the brink into the great unknown.”

FREDDIE GIBBS – “THE BIG 2”
The biggest rap diss tracks of 2024 came from Kendrick and Drake, but you probably remember that J. Cole was part of that feud at first too, thanks to his own assertion that the three of them were the “big three.” Freddie Gibbs now seemingly references Cole falling out of his own club with “The Big 2,” a diss track aimed in multiple directions. Over a sample of SWV’s “Anything,” Freddie seems to take shots at Cole, JPEGMAFIA, and his collaborator-turned-enemy Benny the Butcher.

JEFFREY LEWIS – “RELAXATION”
In addition to making terrific music, Jeffrey Lewis is also an accomplished comic artist and both sides meet on his new “Relaxation” video. New album The EVEN MORE Freewheelin’ Jeffrey Lewis is out March 21.

SOPHIA KENNEDY – “HOT MATCH”
“‘Hot Match’ is my first rock’n’roll song,” Sophia Kennedy declares. “But instead of guitars, I used squealing car tires, all carried by a stoic motorik beat. It shifts between an underlying sense of paranoia and absurd slapstick. You don’t have to understand it, you just have to feel it.“ Sophia’s new album Squeeze Me is out May 23.

LIZZO – “STILL BAD”
After returning with her first new music in almost two years, Lizzo has shared a second new single, “Still Bad,” which she co-wrote and co-produced with Ricky Reed and Blake Slatkin.

KALEAH LEE – “FEVER”
Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Kaleah Lee has shared her first new music of 2025, the hushed folk track “Fever,” which you can read more about here.

GRUFF RHYS – “Y GWENAN GORN”
This is one of the many bonus tracks available on the 10th anniversary edition of Gruff Rhys’ American Interior.
