Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn has just gotten bigger and a little nicer. The theater chain wrapped up renovations and expansions at their downtown Brooklyn location — which opened in 2016 and was their first theater in NYC — which included upgrading the seats (they now recline), screens and projectors in all their auditoriums, as well as adding five more auditoriums and more restroom facilities.
“I’m thrilled to say that Downtown Brooklyn is now the state-of-the-art theater that our inspiring and passionate NYC community deserves,” said Alamo Drafthouse CEO, Michael Kustermann, in a statement. “This theater means a great deal to our company, and I know it means a lot to our guests. These upgrades allow us to do more of what we love, which is playing awesome movies for the coolest fans in the world.”
Alamo Brooklyn now has 12 auditoriums, each capable of showing Sony 4K Digital, RealD 3D, and 35mm (with 70mm on select screens), and able to seat 978 total guests. Learn more here.
The chain was acquired by Sony in June, and is expanding with six new locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Woodbury, New Mexico. There are now three Alamo locations in NYC: Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan (which also houses Kim’s Video VHS collection), and Staten Island (with RZA’s Flying Guillotine Bar).
