The Dillinger Escape Plan continued their series of rare one-off reunion shows at Philly’s Franklin Music Hall on Saturday (11/23) with Pissed Jeans, The Red Chord, Kaonashi, and Rid of Me, but right before that, they played a surprise show at their “favorite little DIY spot” in Flemington, NJ, Flemington DIY, located just a few feet from DEP guitarist Ben Weinman’s coffee shop Alkemy Coffee Co. The place only holds about 260 people and bands set up on the floor–it’s the kind of place you would’ve seen DEP play back in the late ’90s before Calculating Infinity came out. To get in, you had to be a ticketholder for the Philly show and bring two cans of food for their local soup kitchen.
These reunion shows have DEP reunited with the vocalist they had back then, Dimitri Minakakis, and like at other recent shows, the Flemington DIY show was heavy on Calculating Infinity material, plus all three songs from their 1998 EP Under the Running Board and their cover of Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy.” Check out a full-set video and their setlist from the show below. In Philly the next night, they also covered Ministry’s “Just One Fix.”
The Dillinger Escape Plan’s reunion will continue in 2025 with appearances at Milwaukee Metalfest and Welcome to Rockville.
