Soul Glo have just released a Tiny Desk Concert, and according to NPR’s Lars Gotrich, it’s the first time they’ve ever had a hardcore band do so:
We have hosted rap legends, Broadway musicals, pop stars, world-renowned classical musicians, indie rockers and folkies — there’s a universe of music at the Tiny Desk that keeps expanding. But we have never featured a hardcore punk band at the NPR Music office … until Soul Glo.
They played three songs off 2022’s great Diaspora Problems, including the rap song “Driponomics,” and their more recent single “If I Speak (Shut The Fuck Up).” Soul Glo shows are always wild, and it’s a little different seeing them behind a desk without a rowdy audience right up against them, but it’s still a treat in its own right. Soul Glo are gearing up to head on tour supporting their fellow Philly-based Epitaph labelmates Mannequin Pussy, and they recently added a third hometown show at Union Transfer after selling out the first two. NYC gets a show on May 16 at Brooklyn Steel (also sold out). All dates are listed below.
