BrooklynVegan is excited to be premiering Déjà Walter, a new short film created by Jason Peterson (of the Arizona-based ’80s straightedge band Wind of Change) and his Chicago-based advertising agency The Times and presented by Trust Records in association with Revelation Records. The playfully humorous film is sort of an homage to vintage Italian black-and-white films, and it revolves around Walter Schreifels having played Riot Fest this year with not one but three bands, Quicksand, Rival Schools, and Gorilla Biscuits. It stars Walter, with a recurring supporting role from Rival Schools drummer Sam Siegler, and it features some on-stage footage and backstage interview footage from Riot Fest, but it’s definitely not a documentary or a concert film or anything like that. You really just have to watch it for yourself, and you can do that below.
Meanwhile, Quicksand will bring their Slip 30th anniversary tour with Glitterer to NYC on Sunday, November 5 at Webster Hall, and earlier that day, there will be a Slip 30th anniversary event at Generation Records from 1-3 PM with Walter, Norman Brannon (Texas Is The Reason, Anti-Matter, etc), artist Melinda Beck, photographer John Mockus, and Iodine Recordings’ Casey Horrigan, emceedd by Tom Bejgrowicz. The event will showcase Iodine’s new 30th anniversary reissue of Slip, along with the accompanying 64-page hardcover book (which features contributions from members of Thursday, Thrice, Rise Against, Hot Water Music, Cave In, and more), and more archival content that Iodine has collected the past few years. Walter will be doing a book signing, and they’ll have an exclusive limited edition silkscreen poster, the book, and rare color vinyl variants available at the event. Flyer below.
