Tool break out 3 deep cuts after 20+ years at New Zealand tour opener (watch)

Tool began a New Zealand/Australia/Asia/Hawaii tour at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday (11/22) and they broke out three songs that they hadn’t played in decades. They played “Crawl Away” from their 1993 debut LP Undertow for the first time in 27 years, and they did “H.” from Ænima and “Disposition” from Lateralus for the first time in 23 years. They also played their cover of Black Sabbath’s “Hand of Doom” for the second time ever after debuting it at Sabbath’s ‘Back to the Beginning’ show earlier this year.

Check out videos of “Crawl Away,” “H.,” and “Hand of Doom” from the Auckland show below. We haven’t seen video of “Disposition” yet but we’ll update if we do. You can find the full setlist below as well, and all upcoming tour dates here. Tool will also play Ohio’s Sonic Temple festival in 2026.

Update: at night 2 (11/23) at the same venue, Tool broke out Undertow single “Prison Sex” for the first time in 23 years, and you can watch video of that below as well. They also played “Intension” from 2006’s 10,000 Days for the first time since 2014, and they played Fear Inoculum interlude-like closer “Mockingbeat” for the first time ever at the start of the encore.
