As you may have heard, The Jesus Lizard are gearing up to release a very anticipated new album, Rack, their first in 26 years, on September 13 via Ipecac. First single “Hide & Seek” is a genuinely great song that sounds like classic Jesus Lizard (read our track review), and you can say the same about the just-released second single “Alexis Feels Sick.” Like “Hide & Seek,” it’s got everything you want from this band: a chunky bass-heavy rhythm section, fiery lead guitar, and the trademark sneer of David Yow.
According to a press release, the song was “inspired by Girls Against Boys/Soulside drummer Alexis Fleisig’s guarded opinion of modern life,” and it comes with a video created by Yow, who says, “The ‘Alexis Feels Sick’ video is a disgusting and comically impressionistic portrait of American Late Stage Capitalism… with some doggies.” Check it out below.
The Jesus Lizard recently played their first shows since the pandemic (including No Values fest), and they’ve got several more dates coming up, including NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on December 11. All dates are listed below.
