The Callous Daoboys have announced a new three-song EP, God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys, due October 20 via MNRK Heavy / Modern Static (pre-order). The first song released is “Waco Jesus,” and the band somehow manage to sound even more genre-defying and chaotic than ever on this one. It’s proggier, it’s catchier, it’s Mr. Bungle-ier, and it still finds plenty of time to get brutally heavy.
“‘Waco Jesus’ is about insecurity, projecting that insecurity and not doing anything to solve it regardless of how people are telling you to NOT be insecure,” says vocalist Carson Pace. “It’s about being unable to take a compliment.”
Carson also adds, “In a way it feels like the band just started, even though we’ve been chipping away at it for the last six years. We want to be the defining band of this weirdo genre-swapping heavy music, where you can’t put it under an umbrella. I think what’s cool about it is it’s just immediately like, ‘Hey, fuck you, this is The Callous Daoboys!”

The band also have upcoming tour dates, and that includes opening progressive post-hardcore vets Protest The Hero‘s upcoming North American tour, alongside Moon Tooth. That hits NYC’s Gramercy Theatre on November 14. All dates are listed below.
