The Superheaven resurgence continues! Following the TikTok-assisted virality of “Youngest Daughter” and the band’s return to touring, they’ve signed to Blue Grape Music (Gel, Spiritual Cramp, Code Orange) and released their first song in nine years, “Long Gone.” It’s a reminder that Superheaven helped set the stage for so many of the recent “grungegaze” bands, and it proves they’ve very much still got it. That riff is one for the ages. Check out the song and its video below.
“Long Gone” will be paired with another new single, “Numb To What Is Real,” and that comes out December 10 via Blue Grape. It was recorded by the band and mixed by Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Deftones, etc). Pre-order here.
“We did the Jar ten year show and that was really exciting to see that there was still interest in the band,” guitarist/co-vocalist Jake Clarke says. “Then that Fall we played a few more shows and they were even crazier. It really made us realize that people really love this band and these songs we’d made.” About hitting The Metal Shop (the studio co-owned by drummer Zack Robbins) to self-record, Jake adds, “We didn’t want to be told no. We got to try every pedal, try every amp, and have all the time we wanted to do it.”
Superheaven are also about to begin a tour supporting The Story So Far, and that hits NYC on November 29 at Brooklyn Paramount. Koyo are on that tour too. All dates are listed below.
Earlier this year, guitarist/co-vocalist Taylor Madison’s band Webbed Wing (which Jake drums in) released their new album Vol. III, and Jake also launched his own band Clever Hour with a debut demo. Taylor also spoke to us earlier this year about the Webbed Wing LP, the Superheaven resurgence, and more. “Our band was grinding for years, and eating shit all the while,” he said. “It feels good for those songs to get a bit of a second wind.” Read more here.
Speaking of Koyo, they just released their new EP Mile A Minute on Pure Noise. It features the recently-released re-imaginings of “Ten Digits Away” and “I Might Not,” plus the just-released brand new song, “Mile A Minute.” Watch the video for that below too.
