Phoenix death-sludgesters Thra will follow up a run of EPs/demos with their first full-length album, Forged in Chaotic Spew, on July 28 via translation Loss (pre-order). It was recorded and mixed by Josh Medina at Old Hat Analog Studios in Phoenix, mastered by Brad Boatright, and features artwork by Fred Grabosky. Having already released two songs, we’re now premiering a third, “Blistering Eternity.”
“Life is bleak, grueling, and wearisome,” says bassist Zach Nixon. “Lyrically, the song comes from feelings of inadequacy and overall dread that comes from existence in a dying world. Each task becomes more and more tedious with no real prize in sight.” Those bleak themes are reflected in the sound of the song, which drummer Grey Smith describes as “a really good mix of what everyone in the band is influenced by.” It’s pulverizing, and full of negative atmosphere. Check it out below.
Thra have one upcoming show at the moment, a hometown-area record release show on July 28 at The Nile Theater in Mesa, AZ with SaintBreaker, Gestation, Ugly, and Eternal.
