Austin hardcore band Mugger (whose members have also played in Creepoid, Radioactivity, and The Well) are about to drop a new two-song 7″ on Quiet Panic Records tomorrow (8/10), including a song featuring John Brannon of Negative Approach, who Mugger just wrapped up a tour with. The 7″ will be limited to just a clear lathe cut 7″ and a blue lathe cut 7″ (both limited to 50 copies), and the songs are getting their online premiere in this post. Vocalist Anna Troxell says:
“Find Out” is a song about the feeling of being undervalued and overlooked as someone who should be in a position of power. My intention was to tap into dogged persistence it takes to overcome that type of disrespect, and to grab the power for yourself. We decided to ask John Brannon from Negative Approach to do guest vocals. John’s always been a good friend ever since we did an early show of ours with Easy Action, and we thought it would be perfect to add some of his distinct voice to the song.
“Get A Clue” is “about being in a torturous situation being forced into a conversation with someone you don’t want to talk to” (the band calls it an “anti-punisher anthem”), and both are rippers that breathe new life into old school-style hardcore. Check the songs out below.
Mugger will play a hometown show on September 19 at Mohawk opening for Speed, Xibalba, and Day By Day (amazing lineup), and the band will also be playing The Fest and other TBA Florida shows in October.
