One of the hardcore scene’s most feel-good stories of 2024 was the rise of Australia’s Speed, who released one of the year’s best albums with their debut LP Only One Mode and put on some of the best sets we saw all year. They’re now gearing up to bring their wild live show to Coachella, where I have a feeling they’ll leave an impression on anyone who happens to witness their mayhem, and after that they have appearances at some festivals that are more geared towards heavy music, like Tied Down, Milwaukee Metal Fest, and Sonic Temple. And now, they announced a headlining North American tour surrounding those three fests.
Support on all dates comes from Speed’s Thailand-based Flatspot labelmates Whispers, whose new Yom-Ma-Lok EP has a song featuring Speed vocalist Jem Siow. The tour also includes an Atlanta show with the legendary Gorilla Biscuits, and a couple stops with Haywire, as part of that band’s insanely long tour.
Having played NYC four times in 2024, there’s no NYC stop for Speed on this run but they will hit Rutherford, NJ’s Black Box on May 28. All dates are listed below.
Speed’s spring tour wraps up at Tied Down, and then Speed head to the UK for Outbreak. They’ll be back in the US in the fall for Sacramento’s Aftershock fest. Will they end up adding more dates around that too? Let’s hope.
