Speed‘s debut LP Only One Mode is one of the most fun, replayable hardcore records of the year, but as good as the album is, the Australian band really needs to be experienced live to get the full picture. They nearly stole the show opening for Have Heart at Brooklyn Monarch a few weeks ago, and I imagine it’s only gonna be crazier when their headlining tour brings them back to Brooklyn for a show on September 24 at Elsewhere Hall. That show is with Angel Du$t, Big Boy, and LIHC locals Hangman and it sold out, but if you missed out on tickets or just wanna see Speed two nights in a row with a completely different stacked lineup on night two, you’re in luck.
Speed just added a Manhattan show happening on September 25 at Le Poisson Rouge, and this one’s with UK Oi! torch-carriers The Chisel (whose new LP What A Fucking Nightmare is another of this year’s most undeniable punk albums), Boston hardcore staples Firewalker (fresh off their own great new LP, Hell Bent), the US debut of Glasgow metallic hc bruisers Nothin’ But Enemies, and Long Island’s Heads Will Roll. Firewalker are also kicking off a short record release tour for Hell Bent this week, and that wraps up in Brooklyn on August 17 at The Wood Shop (19 Meadow St, right between Meadows and Monarch) with Dog Breath and Love and Compassion. All dates on the tour poster below.
Nothin’ But Enemies have a few other dates right after the LPR show, including Poughkeepsie’s Reason & Ruckus on 9/26; NJ’s Salty’s Beach Bar on 9/27 with Final Resting Place, Moment of Truth, Fatal Realm, and Human Buster; and Brooklyn’s Wood Shop on 9/29.
