Buffalo hardcore band Spaced have signed to Pure Noise and announced a new EP for the label, No Escape, due out on October 17 (pre-order). It was recorded with past collaborator Jay Zubricky (who’s also worked with Every Time I Die, Terror, etc), and lead single “Cause and Effect” finds Spaced getting catchier and more melodic than ever. The production is glossier, and Lexi Reyngoudt’s mix of shouted and clean-sung vocals brings Spaced closer than ever to alt-rock territory.
“This song expresses the anger and frustration we feel about our current society and the norms that are placed upon us,” Lexi says. “We’re told to be quiet and just obey but we really should be fighting back and speaking our minds. ‘Cause and Effect’ is an anthem for the times: ‘You pushed us too far; now it’s time we push back.’”
The two-minute song comes with a four-minute video that opens with an extended intro from comedian Ian Fidance, and you can check that out below.
