When Slipknot announced their tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, Clown said, “We’re gonna make it more personal on the anniversary, but how remains to be seen.” They never officially said whether or not they’d be playing the self-titled in full, until issuing a “brief warning” on stage at last night’s (8/6) tour opener at Noblesville, IN’s Ruoff Music Center: “Nothing you are about to hear tonight was written after 1999.”
They went on to play almost every song on the self-titled, plus bonus tracks from the era like “Me Inside” and “Get This.” A handful of the songs hadn’t been played live in years; some of them haven’t been played at all since the year 2000. All dates on the tour are being opened by Knocked Loose, who are fresh off putting out their great new album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To and going on their own awesome headlining tour. All remaining dates (including NYC’s Madison Square Garden on August 12) are listed below.
