Power Trip recently returned with new vocalist Seth Gilmore (who also fronts Skourge and plays with Power Trip’s Blake Ibanez in Fugitive) filling in for the late Riley Gale for a select few US shows, and now they’re taking their show over to Europe and the UK to open for another Texas metal band whose surviving members are in the midst of a comeback, Pantera. The tour goes down in January and February, and tickets are on sale now. All dates are listed below. Power Trip are also promising TBA headlining shows.
Power Trip went on hiatus after Riley passed in 2020, and Blake and Seth debuted Fugitive with the Maniac EP in 2022. Power Trip made a surprise return after a Fugitive set at Mohawk in Austin in late 2023, and they began playing select shows this year, surrounding their set at the No Values festival. They were in NYC a few weeks ago for a show at Knockdown Center with Ceremony, Frozen Soul, and The Final Agony. You can watch a video from that show below.
Lead vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown re-activated Pantera (with Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne’s Zakk Wylde on guitar and Anthrax’s Charlie Benante on drums, in place of the late Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, respectively), and went on to tour opening for Metallica, do a co-headlining tour with Lamb of God, and play multiple festivals. A few of Pantera’s past European reunion shows were cancelled due to the controversy surrounding Anselmo giving a nazi salute and yelling “white power” at a Dimebash charity event in 2016, which he later apologized for.
