Oklahoma post-hardcore vets Traindodge are gearing up to release their first album in seven years, The Alley Parade, on September 22 via Spartan Records (pre-order). The writing for the album actually began shortly after 2016’s Time Will Never Know Your Name came out. “With all of us not in the same city, and a global pandemic to boot, [it] took a sec,” says drummer/synth player Rob Smith. “Some of these songs were written in 2017, and some were finished weeks before we went into the studio last year. That gives the newer songs a more spontaneous feel, while the older ones feel a bit more ‘lived in.'”
Traindodge recently released lead single “Face Thieves,” and we’re now premiering second single “The New Low.” “It’s about seeing what you want to see in someone regardless of where it might lead you,” vocalist/guitarist Jason Smith says of the new song. “Sometimes you find that you hold vastly different definitions of the same words you’re using with someone. Then gradually you realize you’ve been having conversations of pure insanity with them the entire time.” The song’s brash, discordant, bass-heavy post-hardcore sounds as powerful as Traindodge did in the ’90s, and you can hear it below.
