Sumerian Comics’ American Psycho comic series reimagines Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel and Mary Harron’s 2000 film with a story by Michael Calero, art by Piotr Kowalski, and colors by Brad Simpson. Here’s the synopsis:
The American Psycho comic book series by Sumerian Comics is a bold reimagining of Patrick Bateman’s notorious saga. The five-issue series delves into a dual storyline format; one tracing the chilling exploits of Bateman, and the other introducing a contemporary narrative featuring Charlene Carruthers—a social media-savvy millennial whose descent into violence mirrors the chilling escalation of her predecessor.
The series also has an official soundtrack that is inspired by the ’80s-centric focus of the original book and movie but goes beyond it, and it’s primarily made up of creepy covers that fit the American Psycho theme, including Carpenter Brut covering Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without A Face” (ft. Ulver’s Krystoffer Rygg), Ramsey and Royal & the Serpent both covering “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?,” Ice Nine Kills & Reel Big Fish making an unlikely team-up to cover a song that was memorably used in the movie, Katrina and the Waves’ “Walking On Sunshine,” Diamante covering Pat Bentar’s “Love Is A Battlefield,” Charlotte Sands covering AFI’s “Miss Murder,” Perturbator (covering Depeche Mode’s “Dangerous” ft. Kabbel), and more, plus original songs from Puscifer, Kittie, and others.
