Metal bands Wormreich and Khaotika began a four-date tour together in Chicago on Friday (4/3) and were to have wrapped up in Atlanta today (4/6), but the bands were sadly involved in a tragic van crash this morning. According to 11Alive:
Corporal Scott Smith with the Georgia State Patrol said the band’s van was carrying 12 people and towing a trailer when it left I-85, rolled down an embankment, and crashed into a tree. It happened in Jackson County near Tanger Outlets.
Three men were ejected and died at the scene. Eight others were transported to nearby hospitals. Two remain in critical condition. Smith said band members are from Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, and Virginia.
The names of the three killed members have not been released, but Blabbermouth points out that Khaotika singer Lariyah Hayes is one of the survivors, and is injured but will be okay.
According to AJC.com, Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Scott Smith said the driver “apparently fell asleep and allowed the vehicle to leave the roadway, at which time the vehicle struck a tree on the passenger side.”
