Just two days after announcing they had parted ways with frontman Brent Hinds, Mastodon played Tool’s Live In The Sand festival in the Dominican Republic. For Sunday’s show they had guitarist and popular YouTuber Ben Eller in Hinds’ place. Having done a few Mastodon-related videos on his channel over the years — including a video on their album Levithan last year — Eller definitely was already very familiar with their catalog.

There’s been no word on whether Eller is Mastodon’s new singer/guitarist or not, but they’ve got a little time — their tour with Coheed & Cambria kicks off right after they play the Sonic Temple festival on May 9. All tour dates are listed below.
Also at Tool’s festival, Primus played their first show with new drummer John Hoffman, and it was a double-drummer affair because Tool’s Danny Carey joined them for most of their set as well.
