Lantlôs were one of the pioneers of the wave of shoegazy black metal that took over in the 2010s, but they’ve changed a lot over the years and their new single “Daisies” finds them churning out upbeat, catchy sludge-pop that sounds way closer to Torche than to Deafheaven or Alcest. They’re great at this kind of thing too; “Daisies” is as heavy as it is sugar-sweet, and you can hear it below.
“Daisies” is the first single from Lantlôs’ just-announced new album Nowhere In Between Forever, which arrives on April 3 via Prophecy Productions (pre-order). Check out the artwork and tracklist below as well.
Bandleader Markus Skye says, “With ‘Daisies’ I am offering the first glimpse into my upcoming project ‘Nowhere In Between Forever’, or NIB4E, which is an album that I rather view as a collection of songs or some kind of digital mixtape. The first single is built upon the brighter side of life. It is a song about a sunny day, about listening to your music on a Discman, teenage 90s nostalgia, skate mags, emo feelings, and meeting your valentine. While it is one of the rather traditional tunes on this album, it comes with a catchy Nu Metal tune and a petite, almost poppy character. I hope that this song brings you lightness and energy. And that other, stranger feeling of an unreal, weirdly plastic, and digital vibe as well.”
