Job For A Cowboy helped kickstart the mid 2000s deathcore boom with their 2005 debut EP Doom before evolving their sound over the years into more of a technical/progressive death metal vibe, and now they’ve released their first single in nine years, “The Agony Seeping Storm.” Anticipation for this band’s new music has been building for a while, and this song meeting or even exceeding them. JFAC’s fifth album is expected to arrive in 2024 via Metal Blade. “‘The Agony Seeping Storm’ gives a slice of our upcoming concept record,” vocalist Jonny Davy said via press release. “The concept was inspired by a close friend who embarked on a relentless quest for profound enlightenment through the incessant abuse of hallucinogenic drugs. However, as they delved deeper into their religious-like experimentation, they began exhibiting symptoms of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. They came to believe that they could access an alternate, esoteric reality through hallucinogenic intoxication, where they encountered gnostic and biblical figures and imagery. Job For A Cowboy will play their first show since 2016 at Blue Ridge Rock Fest in Virginia on September 8.
