As you may have heard, Saosin‘s upcoming live album Live From The Garden Amphitheater–recorded at the band’s 20th anniversary shows in 2023 with both of their lead singers, Anthony Green and Cove Reber–features a bunch of cool covers, in addition to all of their own classic songs. We’re now premiering two of those covers: the Anthony Green-sung rendition of Sunny Day Real Estate‘s 1994 pioneering emo song “Seven,” and the Cove Reber-sung rendition of Swedish post-hardcore band Blindside‘s 2002 song “Pitiful.” Both covers are faithfully done, and also perfectly within the band’s wheelhouse. Cove’s got the perfect roar for “Pitiful,” and it’s easy to see how Jeremy Enigk’s soaring, higher-pitched voice in Sunny Day Real Estate helped set the stage for a unique singer like Anthony Green, and it’s a real treat to hear Anthony work his wonders with the song. Live From The Garden Amphitheater comes out July 19 via Born Losers Records. We had an exclusive vinyl variant in the BV shop that quickly sold out, but you can pre-order other variants and accompanying merch here.
Saosin also recently announced their first tour with Cove in 14 years, including shows at NJ’s Asbury Lanes on June 12 and NYC’s Webster Hall on June 13. All dates are listed below.
