Grails have announced a new album, Miracle Music, which will be out May 16 via Temporary Residence Ltd. It was produced by the band’s Emil Amos, and recorded with Jason Powers at his Type Foundry studio in Portland, Oregon. Kelly Pratt contributed horn arrangements
The first single from the album is its opening track, “Silver Bells,” which Emil Amos calls “One of the most aggressive songs Grails has ever put down.” There’s a lot of atmospheric electronics here and it has a bit of a Boards of Canada / Ulrich Schnauss feel. Amos adds, “Now that we’re fully in that future, these sounds have more tension and meaning than we could have imagined. ‘Silver Bells’ unveils a newly revived mission within Grails to uncover the strangest horizons and floor it into whatever bizarre emotional world that is.”
