Genghis Tron are back and have announced their fourth album, Signal Fire, which will be out June 12 via Relapse. It’s their first in five years and their lineup for it features founding members and bandleaders Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky, as well The Armed’s Tony Wolski (who took over as vocalist from Mookie Singerman in 2020), drummer Nick Yacyshyn (SUMAC, The Armed), and Kenny Szymanski of The Armed on bass. The the band co-produced it with Seth Manchester (Battles, Model/Actriz).
“That transformation would not have been possible,” Jordan says of the lineup that made the album, “without Tony, Nick, and Kenny.” Sochynsky adds, “They’re amazing musicians and they all have killer songwriting instincts, which helps push everything to the next level.”
“Signal Fire envisions a Kojima-esque dystopia of endless proxy warfare,” says Wolski, “where the deluge of available information has outmoded the human ability to parse it. A world where those amoral, shameless and cunning enough can literally reshape the reality at their whim through sheer insistence. Honestly, this is probably about, like, late 2027…”
The first single from the album is “I Am All” which, as usual, throws a few heavy genres into a blender. Watch the video below.
