NYC noisemakers Couch Slut have announced their fourth album, You Could Do It Tonight, due April 19 via Brutal Panda (pre-order). It was recorded with Uniform’s Ben Greenberg, and members of fellow NYC bands Imperial Triumphant and Pyrrhon contribute to the record as well.
The first single is “Ode to Jimbo,” which finds the band in characteristically sludgy, ugly, discordant form, but amidst all the filth, it’s actually a love song… a love song to a bar, that is. “‘Ode to Jimbo’ is the first, like, love song that we’ve ever done, and I did that for my friend’s bar that I go to every day,” says vocalist Megan Osztrosits, referring to Greenpoint bar Jimbo Slim’s. Couch Slut will make their European debut at Roadburn Fest on April 20, performing the new album in full the day it comes out. Their only other upcoming date at the moment is a headlining set at Caterwaul Fest’s afterparty in Minneapolis on May 26.
