Converge have shared the second taste of their anticipated new album Love Is Not Enough, “We Were Never The Same.” The excellent lead single/title track is the album’s first song, and “We Were Never The Same” is the album’s last song. So now we know how the new Converge album starts and ends, and the way it ends is with a mid-tempo, sludgy post-hardcore song that finds Converge at their most anthemic. You can already picture that hook becoming a big shoutalong at shows.
J. Bannon says, “I wrote these words in the parking lot of a funeral home while reflecting on loss. Why do we gather to mourn but not to cherish? It’s an honest question that exposes our collective distractions and shortcomings. Grief brings clarity— We all must do better.”
