Canadian post-hardcore bands Constrain and Loose Teeth (the latter of which shares a member with Life In Vacuum) are teaming up for a split cassette that’s due July 31 via Tomb Tree. We’re premiering the opening track, Constrain’s “The Fantastic Mr. Fox (You cussin’ with me?).” It feels like a trip back to the early 2000s, when bands were starting to fuse the harsh sounds of ’90s screamo with the catchier sounds of emo-pop, and it features a guest vocalist who helped define the sound of that era: The Fall of Troy’s Thomas Erak. The band says:
When writing this song we had the idea of those people you come across in life who put you down to hold you back and make themselves feel like more but you still love them. And the struggle mentally you have to go through to remove those feelings from your mind. Because even after you move on you still feel like less but you know you are not. It’s a reminder to reinforce self worth. A reminder to put yourself first. And a reminder to keep those around you who truly care.
