Every new drop we’ve heard from the upcoming Code Orange album The Above has been wildly different. The first two singles embraced the band’s brutally aggressive side, “Take Shape” (ft. The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan) leaned industrial and nu metal, and the just-released “Mirror” finds the band in lighter, melodic, alternative rock territory, with Reba Meyers on lead vocals. It comes with a video directed, animated, and edited by NOWHERE2RUN, and it continues Code Orange’s trend of making videos that echo the era when MTV actually played music. Check it out below.
Reba says that the song “has a special place in my heart” and adds, “To me, it’s the climax of this style of my writing in this band thus far.”
Jami Morgan says, “‘Mirror’ is NOWHERE2RUN’s first foray into full music video production from conception all the way to the final edit. It’s fitting that we took on a song that is dynamically disparate from anything Code Orange has ever done. It’s a little softer, a little more lush, and led by a powerful performance from Reba. It’s another important piece of the puzzle that is The Above.”
