Every Time I Die/Dillinger Escape Plan supergroup Better Lovers have finally announced their anticipated debut album, Highly Irresponsible, due October 25 via SharpTone (pre-order). Like their 2023 debut EP God Made Me An Animal, the album was produced in-house by guitarist Will Putney, and it’s made up of 10 entirely new songs–recent standalone singles “Two Alive Amongst the Dead” and “The Flowering” will remain non-album cuts.
The first single is “A White Horse Covered In Blood,” which finds Better Lovers going in a more melodic direction than they did on the abrasive God Made Me An Animal EP. The band dishes out the kind of heavy Southern rock that you could picture fueling a new Every Time I Die single, and Greg Puciato bounces between shouty verse and a soaring clean-sung chorus. It really feels like The Single, the same way “Post-Boredom” did on the last ETID album, and it comes with an Eric Richter-directed video that you can check out below.
Better Lovers have a handful of festival appearances coming up in September and October (New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and Furnace Fest), and their second annual Buffalo holiday show BLissmas takes place on December 14 with the stacked lineup of Converge, Fleshwater, Twitching Tongues, Dying Wish, Teenage Wrist, and Anxious.
