Australian hardcore band Speed have built up a reputation off the strength of their wild live show and some killer EPs, and now they’ve finally announced their anticipated debut full-length album. It’s called Only One Mode, and it’s due July 12 via Flatspot Records in the US and Last Ride Records in Australia. We’ve teamed up with the band on an exclusive quad black & white vinyl variant, which is limited to 300. Pre-orders are up now in the BV shop and you can check out a mock-up here:
Along with the announcement comes lead single “Real Life Love,” which injects some crossover thrash vibes into Speed’s sound and finds the band sounding as tough as ever. Vocalist Jem Siow says:
My time in hardcore has informed the relationships I have with everyone I hold close. An unconditional sense of love and loyalty. A bond that knows no words. Relationships that now span a lifetime. To us, this unique sense of deep-seated understanding is the essence of HC, it’s what we’re most passionate about and grateful for. Yet there are many in, and especially outside of this space who conflate this idea. If you stick around long enough, you might just get it. Otherwise, what’s the point to all of this?

Speed are also set to open Knocked Loose‘s headlining US tour, alongside Show Me The Body and Loathe, including NYC shows on May 30 at Brooklyn Steel and May 31 at Terminal 5. After that, Speed open the Brooklyn and Boston stops of Have Heart‘s reunion run at Brooklyn Monarch on July 19 and Roadrunner on July 20, respectively. All Speed dates are listed below.
