Albany hardcore band Halo Bite are gearing up to release a new EP, Winner’s Circle, on June 7, and first single “Love Lighter” is out now. It’s their first song made in a proper studio (it was mixed and engineered by Zach Weeks at God City Studio In Salem, MA), and vocalist J Kaiser tells us, “‘Winners Circle’ highlights one of our biggest desires as a band – pushing past the boundaries of what hardcore is ‘supposed to’ sound like. Each member brings their own unique influences to the table. We work to hone the craft of blending these tastes into catharsis for both us and our audience.”
“Lyrically, specifically in our single, “Love Lighter”, we narrate the turmoil of interpersonal relationships and the way they erode our sense of self,” J adds. The song is groovy, catchy, and heavy all at once, and it gets a lot done in its three-minute runtime–relatively lengthy for hardcore’s standards. Fans of Spaced and pre-Glow On Turnstile, don’t sleep on this one.
