AFI were on fire in the Sing the Sorrow era. They were so on fire, that all the B-sides and bonus tracks of the era are just as essential as the songs on the album. Writing about those non-album tracks a few years ago, I hoped 2023 would bring a 20th anniversary deluxe issue that included them, and while 2023 did bring a livestreamed full album performance from LA’s Kia Forum and a long-awaited vinyl reissue, a new edition with bonus tracks never happened. But today, AFI slipped a deluxe edition onto streaming services, and it includes “Now The World,” “100 Words,” “Reivers’ Music,” “Rabbits Are Roadkill On Rt. 37,” and “Synthesthesia.” Exciting stuff!
