PE in fan/driver Kevin Wells’ Ford Focus (via Wells)
Sometimes you travel in style, sometimes you have to bum a ride in a Ford Focus. Case in point, Public Enemy are currently on tour in the UK and Europe with The Prodigy. The band had an in-store at Record Collector in Broomhill, UK ahead of that night’s show in Sheffield but, when it was over, realized their taxis had left them stranded. Enter fan Kevin Wells who offered to drive them to the gig. Reports the BBC:
Mr Wells said they left the record store with about 45 minutes to spare, with their management calling the band in the back of the car asking them where they were.
“I know Sheffield pretty well, so we took a few back streets”, he said.
…Bohemian Rhapsody came on his car stereo “and they all started head banging in the back like in the film Wayne’s World”.
Mr Wells said: “After getting to the arena car park, I told security that I had the band in the car. He just said, ‘yeah, yeah’, but the band then showed their AAA passes out of the window.”
Wells got Chuck D, Flava Flav and the rest of PE to the show with 15 minutes to spare. As a thank you, he was guest-listed to the show.
