Yesterday, it was reported that 66-year-old Iowa state official Jerry Foxhoven lost his job the day after sending an agency-wide email encouraging employees to celebrate Tupac’s birthday. It was one of many times Foxhoven brought his love of Tupac to work (which was met with a complaint at least once); it was reported that “350 pages of emails with the words ‘Tupac’ or ‘2Pac’” were “sent to and from Foxhoven during his two-year tenure” and that Foxhoven “hosted weekly ‘Tupac Fridays’ to play his music in the office,” and “traded lyrics with employees and he marked his own 65th birthday with Shakur-themed cookies, including ones decorated with the words ‘Thug life.’”
A spokesman for Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds wouldn’t confirm or deny if Foxhoven’s love of Tupac and his latest agency-wide email contributed to his ousting, and Foxhoven himself now tells NY Times, “I think it’s a coincidence.” He also added that the office of Gov. Kim Reynolds had requested a meeting with him before he sent the email.
He also told the Times more about his love for Pac: “I would say Tupac is by far my favorite, second would be Snoop Dogg.”
