Having released their great first album in over 15 years, Let God Sort Em Out, last month, Clipse (aka Pusha T and Malice) recently spoke with The Guardian, where, like they did at their very memorable recent Reddit AMA, they took questions from fans. One person asked them about their favorite albums of all time, and Pusha T said, “I’m always torn between Mobb Deep’s The Infamous, Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt, and Biggie’s Life After Death. I can drive anywhere in the world with those four albums and I will be happy.”
Malice said, “Listen, I love the Killers, I love Red Hot Chili Peppers, even Billy Joel! When I work out in the gym, I have Coldplay playing, or U2’s The Joshua Tree. It’s funny, because when I watched MTV back in the 1980s, David Bowie was always on there. All these years later and Bowie is still at the forefront today. I think that says something about true talent and how it can carry on through the ages. It even outlasts your death.”
When they were asked on Reddit “what kind of music you guys listen to outside of hip hop,” Pusha T said “I listen to Sade & 90’s R&B,” and Malice said, “I like Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers.”
Pusha T also responded to a question about whether he’d collaborate with Kanye West again (“that’s in the past. That’s definitely in the past”), and other questions included whether the duo would think about writing a screenplay (Malice said writing a screenplay for a Clipse biopic was “a must”), what they thought the best verse on Let God Sort Em Out was (Pusha T called his “Ace Trumpets” verse a potential favorite), their favorite British television shows and films, their writing process, and whether we can expect more from them (Pusha T: “We’ve definitely got more music in store, baby”).
